What's in this episode:

Uma talks about why she decided to negotiate even though she had only rejection letters in her kitty. She shares her frustration about the bank not valuing any of her 9 years' experience and offering to employ her as a fresher. But again, she decided to concede defeat in the negotiation, but made sure that she took it upon herself to prove to them they were wrong. She talks about how she felt it is her responsibility to move up the fast lane.

She shares about her conversation with her supervisors on this and them giving her a promotion within 1.5 years. She narrates the challenges at workplace and how she decided to use all her skills to make herself more visible, apart from the core job requirements. She then goes on to talk about how she shared with her family on her resolution and clarified how she expected them to support her. She explains why it is important for women to stop self-criticism.

Prior to that she had to make arrangements to resume her job and that meant making herself more redundant at home, expecting her children to handle many things. And like, we have heard with so many other inspiring women in our podcast, she called out for help, from her husband.

Uma talks about how to make support systems work, how striving for perfection is not something to feel proud of and she also tells us her secret behind managing work and home - and this one is going to surprise you.

If this makes you think it is all work and no play….. Uma surprises us again by saying she is a fun loving person and we have a good laugh over her interests and hobbies. And then she says bye with a beautiful message to all and surprise, surprise, a wonderful song.
